Comfortable Dining Room

The casual lantern style, bronze chandeliers hang above an antique pine, saw-cut plank trestle table with zinc banding and large brass nail trim. Curved linen/nail upholstery chairs sit on top of a geometric indigo sapphire and cream area rug. The gallery art walls reflect timeless simplicity with a touch of home.

Project Overview:

The client had accepted a high profile position in the community and had no talent (her words not mine!), no time, or desire to decorate. Knowing she would be entertaining family, friends and colleagues, she wanted a “pulled together, inviting, homey-comfortable” design in this blank page dining room. The challenge was the open plan design of the dining area with patio doors, the mudroom, kitchen and great room all attached, plus two skylights in the dining area that were not centered in the room!

Design Solutions

Adding two beautiful antique bronze lantern style chandeliers created balance and proportion to the room. There is now a warm invitation to come and sit at the 7 foot trestle table with its a saw cut top in antique pine, embellished with antique zinc banding and brass nail heads. The reclaimed wood look gave us the homey feel with 6 linen upholstered brass nail chairs to compliment the table.

The space was anchored with a large indigo sapphire/cream geometric print wool area rug. This centered the room, diminishing the off centered sky lights. Adding artwork with reclaimed wood frames that will allow the client to exchange family photos periodically. She loved the décor signage “Better Together” as a focal point to show what this space means when she invites everyone to her home.
