At Decorating Den Interiors we specialize in custom window treatments and it is a primary focus of our business as bare windows are impractical to live with. Windows need to offer privacy, protection from  outside elements and most of all, they finish your room beautifully. We offer a vast variety of decorative soft window treatments from draperies, side panels, roman shades and top treatments. We are also agents for high quality hard window fashion brands such as Hunter Douglas, and can offer advice on motorization throughout the home.

Draperies & Curtains

Having the correct window treatments depend on several factors: the room, the shape of the window and its position to the sun, the style you prefer, and the drapery’s purpose.

Luxury window treatments will last for many years and serve many purposes — they keep the sun out and the warmth in; they help protect your floors, rugs and furniture from fading; they add pizzazz to any room, completing it.

They can be practical too. Today’s fabrics offer room darkening options for people who work shifts such as firefighters, police, or medical staff. Also, many fabrics are stain proof — perfect defense against kids and pets!

If you prefer a simple look, we can hang stationary drapery panels each side of the window, framing it, usually in combination with a blind or shade. Adding embellishment such as fringe or contrasting tape will change the mood of the room from formal to romantic to casual.

Top Treatments

Full-length draperies may not be suitable for every space. In kitchens, they can be prone to dirt and stains, while in bathrooms, limited floor space often makes them impractical. However, Heather can create a custom-designed top treatment that beautifully softens the hard edges of a window, conceals the mechanics of other layers, and draws attention to the window as a focal point in the room.

Top treatments come in a variety of styles, with cornice boards and valances being among the most popular choices. These versatile options can be tailored to match any design aesthetic, from sleek and modern to classic and traditional, making them an excellent alternative to full-length drapes.

For an even more personalized touch, top treatments can be embellished with custom trims, such as decorative braids, tassels, or banding. These details add a unique, stylish flair to the finished product, ensuring your window treatments are both functional and visually stunning. Blinds, Shades & Shutters

Whether you’re moving to a new home or updating your existing home, the first thing you’ll want to do is cover the windows for privacy. Meet Heather Sheridan

Interior designer Heather Sheridan was born and raised in Colorado and is the owner of Decorating Den Interiors in Grand Junction.

I generally work with clients on complete rooms and often whole homes when people move to Colorado or build a new home. But I also love designing custom window treatments or helping clients to “finish off” a space they have already purchased furniture for.”
