Heather sat down to discuss her career as an Interior Designer

Q. Did you always want to be an interior designer?

A. I have always had a deep interest in interior design as far back as middle school.  I can remember in middle school a friend and I would design dream home “blueprints” on graph paper and share/compare to see who came up with the best dream home.  For the 16 years prior to owning a Decorating Den franchise I have been an independent interior decorator.

Q. What are your favorite design styles?

A. I love sleek, clean lines and simplicity so my own style runs more toward modern and contemporary.  One of the great things about being an interior designer is that I get to work with all styles. I particularly like rustic because it fits the Colorado vibe so well.

Q. What can a client expect from you?

A. Beautiful functional designs, great communication, Integrity and follow through.

Q. Tell us about the process you use with your clients.

A. The initial consultation is all about them; I tour their home and sit down to explore their lifestyle, design needs & desires.  I love it when clients share inspirational photos during our initial visit.  The follow up visit is a design presentation complete with 3-D renderings/sketches (if applicable), a PowerPoint presentation of product selections, and samples of fabrics, wallpapers, tile.

Q. What do you like most about the design process?

A. I love translating their wants and needs into a beautiful design that refreshes their happiness with their home.

Q. How could clients make a project work better for you?

A. By being open and honest.

Q. Why should a client work with you and your company?

A. I will go above and beyond to make this the best experience they have ever had!

Q. What do clients like about working with you?

A. I like to make the process fun and comfortable.  I’m easy to work with and I am careful not to overwhelm them with too many choices.

Q. What do you do in your spare time?

A. I love taking road trips with my fur-baby Spencer.  He loves the outdoors so it’s important to me to take him on nature trails.
