Glamourous gold punctuates the strong, classic quality of navy blue in this modernized master suite. White, stacked stone provides a statement accent wall, while gold shimmer wallpaper, a curved headboard, and starburst wall accents complete the dramatic backdrop. Stylish accents like silver nailheads, crystal knobs, gold lamps, and shag fabric add luxury, while a striking navy ceiling gives the room a romantic and sophisticated first-impression.

Project Overview:

This was the master bedroom of a previous client we had worked with over 10 years ago. The room still looked great, but she was interested in getting a fresh, new look, with something more modern and up-to-date with today’s styles, trends, and colors.

A complete makeover

We began by suggesting a completely new accent wall for behind her king bed that would entirely transform the look of the room. We chose a white, stacked ledger stone that had a bit of crystal shimmer to it. We wanted to offset the angular peak of the ceiling, so we cut an arch shape into the stone look and inserted a gold, textured shimmer wallpaper in the insert that mimicked the shape of the curved headboard. A ceiling painted in navy blue adds drama to the room, while starburst wall accents add just a touch of detail to complete the stone accent wall.

We then selected a rich navy blue chenille, custom headboard and bed surround as the focal piece. White and navy blue bedding, accented by silver and gold pillows, complete the look for her bed.
The window treatments were designed with a two-tone look that played off the navy colors and quatrefoil patterns. The draperies were accented by a thin, arched cornice, adorned with crystal nailheads.

We had the original nightstands refinished in gold and navy blue to add a modern “glam” look. Silver nailheads were added for texture, along with crystal knobs. We continued with the quatrefoil pattern of the bedding with gold lamps flanking the sides of the bed. A shag bench was added to the end of the bed for a touch of whimsy and movement. Adding to the glam look, a wingback chair with crystal buttons finalized the look of this sophisticated, yet relaxing master suite.
